The Final Touches

After multiple weeks of working on this project, my Nike shoes commercial is finally coming together. Today, Sarah and I did a lot of work to edit and perfect the video. Once we were able to access the video and the editing app, I immediately got to working with her. The bulk of the work done was cutting and snipping. Many of the clips had to be cut into a split screen. There is one point in the commercial that involves several different clips of the shoes all fit together in one screen, so a good portion of them had to be cut into here. However, all of the clips in this part of the commercial involve close-up shots of my doing foot and leg exercises with my feet. Most of the ones that involve me running or kicking a ball will be full-screen shots. In addition, the clips had to be sped up slightly. The commercial's tone is very fast-paced and energetic, so the footage needed to match that. Adjusting the speed was fairly simple, though, and only involved changing it to a slightly faster playback speed. The most challenging part was trying to squeeze the commercial into the allowed amount of time. If the commercial is not between 27 and 30 seconds, Cambridge will not grade it. This meant that I needed to cut the footage at just the right amount of time so that it would meet that timespan while also delivering its intended effect. I had to make sure that the complete, put-together footage had to be lengthy enough to be at least 27 seconds, but not so long that it extends past 30 seconds. As I stated before, the editing work was largely repetitive splitting, speeding up, and cutting the time of the footage taken. It is very exciting to see our hard work combining to create an artistic piece of media. It is truly a satisfying accomplishment.
