Final Shots

Image
Today was my second and final day of filming for my music video. Most of the filming was done yesterday, so not much was left to be done. I made sure that my exact outfit from yesterday was still stored so I could wear it again for filming today. Once I put that shirt and bathing suit on again, I gathered the props I needed: sunglasses and a towel. Since the scene of me walking outside to the pool wasn't filmed correctly, I needed to reshoot it. I had my mom record me as I acted out the scene again. However, when I looked through it again, I noticed it hadn't been recording. The camera app on my phone wasn't working properly, so my mom used her phone so she could send it to me afterwards. Then, we recorded the scene, and she sent it to me once I was happy with it. I saved it to my camera roll and edited it so that it would look smoother. After this, I quickly looked through my footage from yesterday to see if anything else needed to be reshot. I was satisfied with the foo

First Day of Filming

Image
Today, I began the production process for my "Feels" music video. Before filming, I had to gather all props and equipment needed and make sure they were all in place. I also had to change into the shirt and bathing suit that I wanted to wear for the video. Then, I had my older sister help by filming the scenes. First, I went into the bathroom to film the first scene in front of the mirror. I then went out to the backyard pool deck, where my sister filmed me walking out. We filmed some shots of the pool area itself, as well as the planned close-up shot of me pouring Sprite into a solo cup. Next, I lye down on one an outdoor chair and my sister stood in front of me to film the next shot. This part was tricky, since I needed to lip-sync one of the lyrics from the song, even though it wasn't playing. I will have to manage this during the editing stage. Next, after a quick panning shot showing the pool, my sister filmed me diving into the pool and resurfacing. The water was

Storyboard for Music Video

Image
Scene 1 - The screen will be black, with the song title, "Feels," fading in, along with text under it will read "A Video by Christopher Hayman. The text will then fade out. Scene 2 - There will be several brief  close-up shots of me in the bathroom, getting ready to go out to the pool. These shots will include my bathing suit, me putting on sunglasses, and wearing a sunny/beach-themed t-shirt. Scene 3 - The scene will cut to the pool deck as the music suddenly gets more energetic. This will be a tracking shot me stepping outside and smiling, and it will show various parts of my backyard. Scene 4 - In the next shot, there will be an extreme close-up shot of me pouring Sprite into a solo cup on a table outside. Then, I will grab the cup and take it away. Scene 5 - As the song lyrics begin, it will cut to me sitting on a poolside chair, holding my soda cup and mouthing the lyrics. This is going to be a high-angle shot. Scene 6 - Next, the camera will pan over to the pool,

Music Video Planning

Image
Props: My music video is going to be pool/outdoor themed, so my props will match that theme. These will include sunglasses, a pool raft, a beach chair, and can or cup of soda. Costumes: For my costume, I will wear a regular bathing suit that goes down to my knees. I will also wear a beach-themed or tropical t-shirt to match the suit. In the pool scenes, I will only be wearing the bathing suit, since I cannot wear a shirt in the pool. The outfit will be accompanied by sunglasses, which I will wear on my head. In addition, I will wear flip-flops that are waterproof and suitable for the location. Schedule: 11/12/21 - I researched conventions of music videos in the genre that the song fits into. 11/16/21 - I established my plan for the props, costumes, schedule, location list, and backup plan for the music video. 11/19/21 - I will create the storyboard for the music video and each scene within it. 11/26/21 and 11/27/21 - I will film the shots and scenes needed for the music video. 11/29/

Music Video Research - Conventions

For my music video, I am doing the song "Feels" by Calvin Harris, featuring Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, and Big Sean. I watched the music video for this song, as well as others like it: "Pasadena" by Tinashe ft. Buddy, and "How Far I'll Go" by Alessia Cara.  CAMS:  Music videos in this style often include tracking shots and high angles showcasing the tropical setting. They also include close-up shots of the artists in their costumes. In addition, there are usually wide shots of the entire set or group of artists in the video. CLAMPS:  The artists in these music videos usually wear beach-esque outfits; men usually wear tropic buttoned-down shirts with sunglasses, while women usually wear colorful, eretheral dresses.  They usually take place on a beach or in a luxurious outdoor setting.  Props often include beach chairs and sometimes fake parrots. Sound:  Most of the sound comes from the song itself in these videos, however, they often include diege

Finding a Group

Image
In this blog, I am going to be discussing my group for the upcoming Media Studies music video project. At the moment, I have not decided who I will be working with, as I feel I still need another day to find someone. I am sure, though, that I would like to work with a group on this project. Normally, I am an independent person and prefer to work alone. Working alone can make a task like this easier in some ways. However, I find that working all by myself on this music video will be highly challenging. I would not be able to record it all by myself, and it would be very difficult to try and find another person to be an actor for my video. It would make more sense and be simpler to have a group of multiple people who can help put this project together. It would also be much less strenuous to find someone to be a recorder, actor, and editor. I would prefer around 3 or 4 people to complete this music video with. I also hope to find good partners to work with. I want to work with someone

Introducing Me

Image
My name is Christopher Hayman, and this is a blog about who I am and what I like. I am interested in many things, and have lots of hobbies. One of my biggest interests in writing. I love writing things to express my feelings, like poems, short stories, and even novels. The idea of creating a complex imaginary realm through words is fascinating! I also really enjoy reading, as it gives me inspiration for my writing. Another hobby of mine is swimming. I am currently on the swim team at my school, and I absolutely love it. It makes me happy to be a part of a team and to make friends that can support me. I also enjoy swimming because it helps me channel my competitive side. In addition, I am also very interested in artsy things, such as movies and music. I really enjoy music because it can be a great way to process my emotions, but it can also just be fun to sing along to a good song. Movies also amaze me, because I love how actors and directors come together to compile these creative fi
