Beginning Editing

Image
I have just begun my editing process for my final task. I was a bit concerned about what program I will use for this. I decided I would simply use InShot, which I used for my music video. It is a very helpful software and is easy to use. The first thing I had to do was gather all of the footage I had. Thankfully, I had all of the clips saved in one place on my phone. I selected all of the ones I needed and transferred them to the app. Next, I noticed the clips were out of order. I needed to rearrange them so that they fit the flow of the story. This was another easy part of the process. All I had to do was look for the scenes and put them in the place they needed to be in for the sequence. The only challenge was trying to make the time match. I needed to make sure it added up to a time of 2 minutes exactly. I had to extend/slow down some shots to do this. Some shots I had to do this to were the establishing shot and the ones of me typing. In the end, I was able to get the timing righ

Reshooting

Image
During spring break, I looked over the scenes that I had filmed for my opening sequence. I noticed that some scenes weren't as good as I wanted them to be. So, I took it upon myself to film them again. I asked my mom if she was able to, and she said yes. The first scene I wanted to reshoot was the scene where Henry's mom first enters his room. The original version of this scene was not bad, but I felt it could be better. The acting could have been improved, and the scene needed to be a few seconds longer. We shot it one more time, and it came out much better. The acting was better, and I like the way it was filmed. Next, I had to reshoot the following few scenes. These were part of the montage of Henry getting ready. These scenes also needed to be slightly longer. I did the same exact thing as the first time, but the shots were drawn out more. I was filmed brushing my teeth and packing my bag for more time. These were the only scenes I needed to redo. Afterwards, I looked ove

Music

When I first began my final task, one of the things I knew I needed to do was find music. This was stressing me out for some time. I needed to find music in time to get the project done. The first thing I had to do was reach out to a music company and ask to use their music. I had heard that it can take a long time for the companies to get back to you. I wanted to get that done as soon as possible. Thankfully, though, I found out that you could use royalty-free music. Since time was starting to go by, this seemed like a safer option. I searched up "royalty free music" on Google to find anything. It took several searches and looking through many different websites to find something that would work. I finally found a website that provided many useful options. The site featured music from many different genres that you could use. I was elated when I found out that it had a "comedy" genre. I looked through and found the perfect soundtrack. The playful, upbeat sound of

Finishing Filming

Image
This weekend, I got to finish filming for my opening sequence. I was busy on Saturday, 3/12, so I was unable to film that day. However, Sunday, 3/13, was a free day for me. This is when I got to film the rest of the shots I needed. Last weekend, I left off on the scene where Henry's mom enters his room. My mom agreed to play this part. After this came Henry's "getting ready for school" montage. For this, I had my mom record me as I pretended to frantically search through my dresser to find the perfect outfit for school. Next, we went into the bathroom to film me brushing my teeth. This was an over-the-shoulder shot that focused on my reflection in the mirror. Then, we gathered my school props together for the next shot. This was the shot of me hurriedly packing my bookbag and walking away. This concluded the montage. Then, my mom and I were filmed walking out of the house in a tracking shot. We had to film multiple shots that focused on one of us at a time as we rec

Cancelled Plans

Image
On Saturday, 3/5, I began filming the first few scenes of my opening sequence. I had originally planned to continue filming on Sunday, 3/6. However, the weather was very rainy on that day and unsuitable for filming. The shots planned for that day required us to go outside and for it to be sunny, so we had to cancel. I was disappointed because I wanted to get the filming done that day. This requires a big change in plans. Instead, I will have to finish filming next Sunday, 3/12. Hopefully, the weather will be good enough to finish the filming process. I will not be able to film on Saturday, 3/11. I will be busy that day, so I will have to get it all done the following day. Even though this may seem like a setback, I am a bit relieved. This gives me more time to prepare and plan for the final shots of the sequence. I will be able to figure out my props and outfit for these shots. I will look through my closet to see which outfit would be suitable for Henry to wear to school. Also, I ca

Filming Time!

Image
Last Saturday, March 5, I began filming my opening sequence. I decided to film a small portion of the sequence only. This is because I wanted to split the filming process into multiple days. I first asked my mom if she would be able to take part in the filming. Thankfully, she was able to. We went outside to the front yard to film the establishing shot. This shot did not require either of us to show ourselves. I held the camera and pointed it forward for a few seconds. This is where I will edit in the opening credits and the title of the film. Then, I slowly panned over to my house to set up the next shot. Then, I changed into pajama-like clothes to film the next scene. I turned on my computer and opened a Word document to type on. As I was typing, my mom began recording. She slowly walked down the hallway into my room while filming. I continued typing Henry's diary entry, not paying attention to the camera. Next, we shot a few more shots of me typing on the computer. We shot a fe

Storyboard (Final Task)

Sheet 1: The sequence will open with a wide establishing shot of the outside of Henry's house. The first opening titles will appear before the title of the film fades in and fades out. The camera will pan over to the front of the house. It will then zoom into Henry's room as his voiceover begins. Next, there will be a medium close-up shot and a shot of the computer, which will show Henry typing out his voiceover. Sheet 2: Henry will be shown typing from the side, and an extreme close-up will show him smiling. Then, he will be shown from the front and he will be interrupted by his mom walking in. Henry looks at the clock and reacts with shock after realizing he may be late for school.  Sheet 3: Henry's mom reminds him to get ready quickly, and upbeat music will begin playing as he frantically looks for an outfit. When he finds a casual T-shirt and shorts, he will be shown brushing his teeth in an over-the-shoulder shot. Next, he will be shown packing his backpack to get read
