Film Complete!

My final task is finally complete. I've spent the past two months brainstorming, researching, planning, filming, and editing. Now, all that work has finally paid off. I looked over the final, finished product of my opening sequence, and I couldn't be more satisfied. The editing looks great. The way the scenes are cut and organized makes the sequence flow so perfectly. I also love the text and the design of the titles. It makes it look like a real movie. The sound design also stuck out to me, in a good way. The music fits so perfectly and I love how it blends in with the scenes. I am also incredibly satisfied with the acting. I admittedly didn't expect it to be perfect, but it fits perfectly with the comedic feel of the film. My mom and I both did such a great job. Also, the cinematography was amazing. The camera movements are so smooth and look very cinematic. The angles and shots look very good as well. All of these elements combined to perfectly capture the feel of a re

The Final Edits

I have fully finished editing on my opening sequence. I had already finished fixing the things other students had critiqued about it. All that was left to do was make some final touches. The first thing I needed was to fix the audio. For the first scene with Henry's voiceover, the background music was too loud. It was difficult to hear the talking. Thankfully, InShot has a feature where you can easily adjust the volume of all audio. I lowered the background music to only 15%, and increased Henry's narration to 100%. This made it easier to hear him, while also hearing the music in the background. The next thing I needed to do was make sure that it was the right orientation. I knew I had filmed horizontally, but it needed to fill up the entire screen when I tilted it sideways. I was able to fix this with a quick edit. Lastly, I watched the film from start to finish to make sure that everything was correct. I had gotten everything how I wanted it, and nothing was missing. I was

Changes from Film Review

I recently had a group of classmates watch and critique my opening sequence. I decided to take their advice into consideration. I went back and edited my project. First, I had to cut out some unnecessary shots. One of these was the medium close-up of Henry typing from the side. It took up too much time. Also, it was not needed since it was followed by the same shot, but more close up. Next, I altered some clips to get he timing right. I looked at the establishing shot that opens the sequence. I liked how it looked, but it was too long. It was originally 15 seconds. I shortened it down to about 12 seconds by cutting out some of the shot. I did the same thing with the getting ready montage. The shot of Henry packing his bag could have been less than 11 seconds. I cut out some of the shot to make it a couple seconds shorter. The last thing I remembered to do was to fix the lighting in the first scene with Henry. I made it a little bit less dim, so that it didn't seem so dark and omin

Film Review

I completed editing my final task over this past weekend. I still have almost 2 weeks until the task is due. So, I decided to show it to a group of students in my class for feedback. They all enjoyed it very much. However, they had critiques for it, too. Multiple students said that several clips were too long. As a result of this, my sequence was too long. For example, the establishing shot outside the house is too dragged out. It is 15 seconds, and they said it could easily be cut down to about 10 seconds. Another shot that can be shortened is the shot of Henry packing his bookbag. They said that, since it's part of a montage, it can be shortened to save time. This will be an easy fix since I can edit the clips. Additionally, one student said that the lighting for the first shot of Henry's room is a bit too dim. I  originally wanted to do this to give it an "early morning" feel. However, I can reshoot if I need to so I can get better lighting. Another suggestion th

Beginning Editing

I have just begun my editing process for my final task. I was a bit concerned about what program I will use for this. I decided I would simply use InShot, which I used for my music video. It is a very helpful software and is easy to use. The first thing I had to do was gather all of the footage I had. Thankfully, I had all of the clips saved in one place on my phone. I selected all of the ones I needed and transferred them to the app. Next, I noticed the clips were out of order. I needed to rearrange them so that they fit the flow of the story. This was another easy part of the process. All I had to do was look for the scenes and put them in the place they needed to be in for the sequence. The only challenge was trying to make the time match. I needed to make sure it added up to a time of 2 minutes exactly. I had to extend/slow down some shots to do this. Some shots I had to do this to were the establishing shot and the ones of me typing. In the end, I was able to get the timing righ
