Genre Decision

After researching the comedy, horror, and action genres of film, I have come to a decision. The genre that I have chosen for my opening sequence is comedy. This wasn't an easy choice, as I am fascinated by all of these genres. Comedy was actually the first genre that I researched. I learned a lot about the stylistic choices and how they are utilized in comedy. It is interesting how the choice of sound and setting can set the tone for the film, especially a more lighthearted one. These films are also less serious, so it is easier to get away with just-okay acting and even poking fun at common tropes. After comedy, I researched the horror genre. This was an enjoyable genre to research because I love horror films. It was interesting to take note of how stylistic choices are used to create a completely different tone than comedy. I noticed how certain camera angles and sounds are used to spook the viewer in these films. I have seen many horror films and taken note of which scenes from which movies have been most effective for me, and why they spooked me. The final genre that I researched is action. Action movies are always fun to watch, and I have taken note of what makes them that way. I researched how the use of camera movements and music enhances excitement. I appreciate how these techniques place the viewer in the middle of the action. While all of these genres are great, I chose comedy because I think it will be the most fun and easy for my final task. It will allow me to be a bit more silly and not so serious, so I will have a fun time making it. I am happy with my decision and I hope my project will turn out good.

 Last Saturday, March 5, I began filming my opening sequence. I decided to film a small portion of the sequence only. This is because I wanted to split the filming process into multiple days. I first asked my mom if she would be able to take part in the filming. Thankfully, she was able to. We went outside to the front yard to film the establishing shot. This shot did not require either of us to show ourselves. I held the camera and pointed it forward for a few seconds. This is where I will edit in the opening credits and the title of the film. Then, I slowly panned over to my house to set up the next shot. Then, I changed into pajama-like clothes to film the next scene. I turned on my computer and opened a Word document to type on. Nike offers many different types of products, such as shoes, jerseys, bags, socks, and many more accessories and equipment. However, they are most commonly known for their shoes. They are only one of Nike's most tested shoes. These qualities make it an excellent choice for shoes that you can run and exercise with. Another product of theirs is the Air VaporMax 2021. Commercial is Done!

I am very excited that our commercial for Nike shoes is finally complete. Sarah and I have spent several weeks working hard on it, and it is incredibly satisfying to see it come together in the final product. The best part of this project was being able to insert our creativity into a real piece of media. It took a long time to complete and perfect, but it was a unique experience and I learned a lot while doing it. I learned how to plan and execute digital media and how to showcase creative talent through it. I also learned how to edit footage and merge it into a full-length film, which was incredible. Also, I loved being able to advertise a company that is as well-known and liked and Nike. Being able to demonstrate the greatness of their products was awesome. We are very happy that this commercial has come to be what it is now. Our work has definitely paid off, and we can't wait for you to see it!
