Last Saturday, March 5, I began filming my opening sequence. I decided to film a small portion of the sequence only. This is because I wanted to split the filming process into multiple days. I first asked my mom if she would be able to take part in the filming. Thankfully, she was able to. We went outside to the front yard to film the establishing shot. This shot did not require either of us to show ourselves. I held the camera and pointed it forward for a few seconds. This is where I will edit in the opening credits and the title of the film. Then, I slowly panned over to my house to set up the next shot. Then, I changed into pajama-like clothes to film the next scene. I turned on my computer and opened a Word document to type on. As I was typing, my mom began recording. She slowly walked down the hallway into my room while filming. I continued typing Henry's diary entry, not paying attention to the camera. Next, we shot a few more shots of me typing on the computer. We shot a fe...
The next film in the comedy genre I am researching is Ghostbusters (the original 1984 version). This film uses many common camera shots in comedy, such as closeups, which show the actors' emotions for comedic effect. There are also many two-shots showing characters either talking or working together to battle ghosts. Costumes in this movie often show the protagonists in beige vests with a Ghostbusters logo. Lighting is usually fairly bright, even during the darker scenes. The acting is very comedic and never very professional or serious. Makeup is more casual for the four main men, but some characters such as Gozer wear intricate, creepy makeup. Props include the backpacks full of "ghost-busting" equipment that the four protagonists wear on their backs. The setting is New York City. The sound in this film includes a sound motif that plays multiple times during the movie: a theme song made specifically for the film. There are also examples of incidental music, such as d...
The first website I researched is called Art of the Title. This website shows demonstrates the creativity and art of movie titles, and how they add to the overall film. It includes the title sequences of a wide number of films and shows. You can watch and analyze them to see what techniques they use and how they make it come together. The site also displays winners and nominees for awards on their title designs. This website is useful because it shows you how not only the title sequence contributes to the film, but the design of the title itself. It also displays the names of people and studios who worked on these titles. I am using this website because it gives me easy access to view title sequences. I can easily analyze and appreciate them this way. It places emphasis on the titles of media, which is exactly what I need at this stage of my final task. The second website I am researching is called Watch the Titles. This site is similar to Art of the Title, but has some significa...
